Behind the Lens: Meet a Norfolk Wedding Videographer

Meet Matthew, Wedding Videographer and Photographer.

Today on the blog, we are featuring the other half of Amber Moon, Matthew, also known as Rusty. He will be sharing a little more about his experience and offering insight into the work that goes on behind the scenes of wedding videography and photography. We have been working together on Amber Moon since 2022, and I am thrilled to tell you more about him.

Matthew Martin. A wedding videographer and photographer in Norfolk.

What inspired you to become a wedding videographer, particularly in Norfolk?

Embarking on wedding videography stemmed from a lifelong passion for film. Studying Film at NUA laid the foundation. Filming parkour and product photography enhanced my skills further. Creating a film for a friend's wedding sparked the transition. Offering services to couples in Norfolk felt natural. Exploring the wedding industry revealed hidden gems. Love capturing new places and moments!

How do you ensure a wedding film is unique?

Our videography is deeply personal, tailored to each couple. We take time getting to know them before the wedding. Our natural approach captures genuine emotions and connections. We focus on heartfelt moments like smiles and gentle touches. We meticulously edit to create a film that captures the couple's unique vibe.

Can you share some memorable moments you've had while filming weddings in Norfolk?

There are lots but two standout memories come to mind.

Memorable moments included a couple arriving at the beach in a vintage car, radiating love and joy. Another cherished memory was a couple's private candlelit first dance, an intimate and sweet moment allowing them to fully embrace the experience.

How do you stay updated with the latest trends and techniques in wedding videography?

Staying updated on wedding videography techniques is crucial but I prioritise timeless films over chasing fads, aiming for shorter, engaging highlights. We offer full edits for emotional moments like speeches, striving to create visually stunning, meaningful films that reflect each couple's special day.

What equipment do you consider essential for a wedding shoot?

When shooting weddings, having updated equipment is crucial. Our compact cameras, capture video and photos seamlessly. Additional tools like a monopod and gimbal enhance our filming. Our light drone, named "Droneo," captures stunning aerial shots in Norfolk.

I currently use a Sony FX30 - Small but mighty!

How do you work with other wedding suppliers on the day ?

Collaborating with suppliers like photographers and wedding planners is crucial for a seamless wedding day. Couples shouldn't manage suppliers; they should relax and enjoy. We view collaboration as teamwork, recognising each supplier's role in the wedding's success. We introduce ourselves to the planner and photographer on the event day, explaining our roles and understanding expectations.

What advice would you give to couples who are considering hiring a wedding videographer for their Norfolk wedding?

  1. Find Local Videographers: Start early and search for nearby videographers and look at their work to see if it matches your style and what you have in mind.

  2. Read Reviews: Check reviews on sites like Google to learn about their professionalism and creativity.

  3. Contact Them: If you like what you see, reach out with any questions through their website or social media.

  4. Set Up a Meeting: Many videographers offer consultations to discuss your vision and see if they're a good fit for you.

  5. Explore Your Options: Don't rush your decision; meet with a couple of videographers to compare styles and personalities.

By following these steps, you can find the right videographer to capture your special day in Norfolk. We hope you consider us for your wedding!
